Costers del Priorat

Costers del Priorat has one of the best farmhouses in the region, comprised of 20 hectares of different red wine grape varietals. The oldest vines on the property are the Garnacha and Cariñena varietals, between 40 and 100 years old. They are an authentic oenological treasure from which the best wines of the cellar are produced. Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha vines were planted 15 years ago and, after the estate was recently expanded, we also have new vineyards of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vineyards:

This wine has been created with grapes from our oldest Garnacha and Cariñena vineyards with an average age of 70 years, also containing a small proportion of grape from our Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, all of them with extremely low productions and planted on terraces of slate soil, which provides its special mineral taste.

Tasting notes:

Powerful and exuberant wine. Intense wild cherry colour. Aroma with good intensity, complex, refined and with mineral and fruit nuances that blend perfectly with the vintage aromas. In the mouth it is rich, meaty, expansive and with a very persistent finish.

Pissarres Priorat 2004

Red Intense and exotic. This vivid red bursts with floral, berry, vanilla, wild herb and cola flavors, with a velvet texture and vibrant acidity. Expressive, but something of a gamble in terms of balance and stability. Drink now through 2013.

Rating: 91
Drink 2008 - 2016
The 2004 Clos Cypres, made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Carignan, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 14 months in new French oak, is similarly dark in color but far better balanced. There are aromas of vanilla, creosote, black cherry, smoke and kirsch liqueur. The wine is full-bodied and opulent, with excellent structure and great definition. It will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age and drink for 6-8 years there after.
